This wiki has been developed to satisfy four goals:
1. individual assignment created for online course CTL1799, Holistic Approaches to Information Technology, taught by Dr. Selia Karsten at OISE/UofT
2. draft prototype for course irt201 Ryerson University School of Interior Design for use in fall 2008 as an oline supplement to traditional teaching and learning
3. to become a future link within website (still under construction) http://web.mac.com/dowlingc/fsctpl/home.html
4. personal stepping stone in computer literacy
f + s + c + t + p + l = elements of design
The elements of design, form, scale, colour, texture, pattern and light occur in the natural world.
They are essential tools for the Interior Designer that inspire and when combined create interior space.
form
Form consists of line, plane, volume and shape. It gives the Interior Designer a tool to create atmosphere and coordinate the pieces of physical space.
scale
Human scale is the most significant scale for interior designers. Designs are often made based on the scale relationship between two or more nonhuman objects.
colour
Colour can be as hue, primary, secondary, tertiary, chroma, value, tones, shades, harmonious, monochromatic, complementary, analogous, triad, tetrad, and the cause of simultaneous contrast.
texture
Texture can be two or three dimensional.
pattern
Pattern can be integral or applied to a material. Dots, lines, forms create zigzags, stripes and illusions in space.
light
